Rikush

Since I was a child, I’ve always felt deeply connected to hip-hop culture. I picked up a spray can for the first time when I was five years old, and from there everything started: first sketches, then walls, pieces of plywood in my backyard, and days spent around the city searching for graffiti to photograph or recreate on paper. I still keep many of those drawings today.

My mother played a huge role in all of this. She always supported me in everything I did. When I was still very young, she used to take me to abandoned places to paint and observe graffiti. As I grew older, I started doing my first wall pieces and tags, always in a spontaneous and instinctive way, without following strict rules or structures.

Around the age of sixteen, I got closer to tattooing and started tattooing during the COVID period. At first I experimented with different styles, but over time I realized that what truly represented me were black and grey letters, especially the rougher and more dynamic ones connected to writing culture. I’m interested in a style that feels less rigid and less schematic, where I can follow personal lines and leave more space for instinct and movement.

In my work, I mainly search for flow and ornamentality. What interests me is making a tattoo work naturally with the body, enhancing the anatomical area where it is placed. Both in graffiti and tattooing, I’ve always searched for the same thing: creating something that truly belongs to the surface it’s born on.
